Texas 90% Attendance Rule

The Texas 90% Attendance Rule (Texas Education Code § 25.092) requires students in kindergarten through 12th grade to attend class for at least 90% of the days the class is offered in order to receive credit or a final grade.

Students who do not meet the 90% attendance requirement may be required to complete attendance recoupment to regain credit. Please note that excused absences still count toward the 90% attendance requirement.

Failure to meet attendance requirements and/or successfully complete required attendance recoupment may result in loss of credit or other academic consequences, which may affect promotion to the next grade level.

Regular attendance is essential to student learning and academic success. We encourage families to make daily and timely attendance a priority.
